Raising Rock Stars ~ Psalm 62:1-2

Psalm 62:1-2

Our night was based upon the song, Never Be Shaken {Psalm 62:1-2} from Seeds of Courage.

Truly my soul finds rest in God;
my salvation comes from him.
Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will never be shaken
.

I was able to capture Krash in motion as he did the movements I made up for the song.  On the left he is making his “fortress” and on the right he was “shaking.”

Of course we used the great  printables Valerie made for Totally Tots to learn this verse and what it means.

Raising Rock Stars ~ “Convinced” Romans 8:38-39

Romans 8:38-39

Our night was based upon the song, Convinced {Romans 8:38-39} from Seeds of Courage.  I didn’t get any pictures, but here’s the verse hanging up on our calendar board…  IMG_1150Of course we used the great  printables Valerie made for Totally Tots to learn this verse and what it means.

While teaching the verse one portion at a time to the boys, Krash announced his confusion with the “locked up heart.”  God popped an object lesson in my head to try to make this real for him and it really helped.

I led him out of our schoolroom door {that leads into my husband’s tool area and happened to have the new key to the door right there} and locked the door quickly hiding the key in my pocket.

Mommy ~ “What are we supposed to do?”

Krash ~ “We need a key.”

M ~ “How do we get a key?”

K ~  “Daddy.”

M ~ “ Yes, we need to ASK for the key.”

I went on to apply this to the symbolic KEY to heaven that comes to us by ASKING Jesus into our hearts.  I told him that when we ask Jesus into our hearts we get the key to heaven and get to live with God forever.  He then referred back to the locked up heart image.  I told him that when we accept Christ into our hearts, God locks us up tight and won’t let the key to heaven get away!  God loves us so much and nothing can separate us from Him.

Raising Rock Stars ~ Daniel

Daniel

We continue to read the Bible daily to the kids each morning and have made it up to the book of Daniel.  Most children’s books focus only on the story about the Daniel in the Lion’s Den, but we read all of the key stories in Daniel, going through many of them in great depth.  The kids especially enjoyed learning about the fiery furnace {which is depicted in this Veggie Tales movie}, the dream about the tree, the writing on the wall. and of course the story of the lion’s den.

We hadn’t dug too deep into the story of the lion’s den as we had the others, so we used our family time this week to dig deep into this fascinating story with our kiddos.  Daddy sat in the bean bag and read them the story {as a review} from a children’s book we have.  Daniel in the Lion's Den

This was too funny, Ladybug got up soon after the first photo was taken, as soon as she realized this wasn’t her favorite book.  She began making silly faces, silly noises, and trying to make me laugh;-)  Then she decided to start walking…distracting us all, since she normally only does it when we encourage her.  The pic is blurry but I love it anyway! ;-)  As you can see,  Krash was VERY into the story behind all of her silliness ;-).Raising Rock Stars Daniel Lesson (2 of 5)

After reading, we went to the table where I had 3 different sheets for each child.  Krash did a handwriting/coloring sheet…Raising Rock Stars Daniel Lesson (3 of 5) Pac did a crossword…Raising Rock Stars Daniel Lesson (4 of 5) Ladybug colored…Raising Rock Stars Daniel Lesson (5 of 5)

The kids watched both Rack, Shack & Benny, and also Daniel in the Lion’s Den on DVD this past week.

Raising Rock Stars ~ Psalm 34:10 “The Good Song”

Psalm 34:10

Our night was based upon the song, The Good Song {Psalm 34:10} from Seeds of Courage.  I didn’t get many pictures, I was busy singing with the kids!

Of course we used the great  printables Valerie made for Totally Tots to learn this verse and what it means. We also got out some toy lions to role play with.  When the verse said “weak” we made our lions fall over!

IMG_9451 IMG_9453It is a simple verse, which my boys already have memorized.  We talked about what the verse actually meant…which is the part I love.

We continue to read the Bible daily to the kids each morning and are currently reading Daniel ~ we look forward to an evening talking and learning all about Daniel next Sunday!

Raising Rock Stars ~ David and Goliath

David & Goliath

We continue to read the Bible daily to the kids each morning and have made it up to David & Goliath!  Of course we had to stop and have a family RRS family night based on this awesome story.  My Krash is quite the warrior himself so this is a VERY favorite story of his!

Daddy sat in the bean bag and read them the story {as a review} from a children’s book we have. IMG_8787

Of course we had to reenact the story!  I picked up a shield from the Dollar Tree last week and brought it out to surprise them.  The boys took turns being David & Goliath…

           IMG_8807 IMG_8789IMG_8798IMG_8795

Even Ladybug got in on the action, with Daddy helping her be David, throwing stones at Krash who was Goliath!

IMG_8816 IMG_8819

We then went to the table to color together, even Ladybug colored some for the first time!  Krash also did a maze, and Pac Man did a word search.  We all colored!

Ladybug was proud of everyone, high fives all around!IMG_8856

For their movie this evening, they watched Veggie Tales, Dave and the Giant Pickle.
