Raising Rock Stars Kindergarten Bundle

RRSK Bundle

The RRSK Bundle is finally ready!  This has been a long creation process for me, mostly because Krash stopped using the RRSK program for a few reasons.  One-he finished up all of his K work early and the extra work was too easy for him.  Another reason-I am now using these the My ABC Bible Verses book and many of the RRSP/RRSK printables to teach our children’s church class-and he is in it!  He was becoming a bit of a “know-it-all” so I decided to stop doing the verse memory at home and have him review the verses with the rest of his class!  So, the units are only free through letter P,  since that’s all we did at home ~ although Ladybug will probably use them in the future!  But, the RRSK Bundle is ready and includes all of the units and a few extras packaged in for easy access. This post will share the details about what is included.

A note about purchasing, the bundle is $10, and gives you a private webpage where you go to download the files in bundled format {a zip folder}.  If you purchased RRSK Early Access, you do NOT need to purchase the bundle, the private page you already have was updated to include the bundle links! You can purchase the RRSK Bundle here. Remember, lessons A-P are free, in case you want to try it out first!

For each letter of the RRSK program you will have the following printables shown below.  Want to know more about the printables and the RRSK program, you can see the intro post here!

FAQ…

I already purchased the RRSK Early Access, do I need to purchase this too?

NO!  The bundle downloads are located on the same webpage you were given when you bought early access!  Log back in and you’ll see them!  If you lost your info, just email me and give me your PayPal email and I can resend your info!

Should I use RRSP or RRSK with my child?

I used RRSP with Krash when he had just turned 4.  We added in the RRSK printables when he was in Kindergarten, at age 5.  If you work with the verses and the book for 2 years, it really gives your young child a solid foundation of 26 Bible verses and a good understanding of what they mean and what our faith is about.  The My ABC Bible Verses book is awesome and definitely worth going through twice!

What is the difference between the preschool{RRSP} and the kindergarten{RRSK} version?

You can see the intro to RRSP here to see what is taught. You can see the RRSP Bundle to see what extras you get when you purchase the bundle.  RRSK just extends the Bible verse work with more kindergarten level skills {tracing, various math skills, vocabulary words, phonics, story telling, sign language, listening skills, and more.}

What if I already have a Preschool or Kindergarten Curriculum, can I add this in?

Yes!  That is what we did!  We use Calvert as our base and used RRSP and RRSK as a way to bring in the Bible!  I often cut back on some of the Calvert work in PreK and K, and used the extra time to add the RRSP/RRSK work in.

What is the Members Only section and is that separate from all of this?

The Members Only section hosts PowerPoint shows.  You can see what is there now here.  This area hosts the PowerPoint shows that were made specifically for RRSP.  You could use them for RRSK also, but the colors, numbers, and a few other things were focused on RRSP skills.  The MO section is a separate purchase.  You can see more about the different items I offer for sale here.

Here is Krash singing letter P for you, the tune is “Twinkle Twinkle.”   The printable written out the way you sing it for LETTER P is here! He was a bit off with the tune in the beginning, and Ladybug is playing with the marble track in the background, so I am sorry for the poor quality!  Hopefully you can catch the tune despite these obstacles!

If you have RRSK Early Access or the RRSP Bundle, there is now a file with all of the verse tunes available!

I get many questions about the differences between the items I sell online, here is a post that explains the difference between Members Only, You Can Read, RRSP, RRSK, and Animal ABCS.  Hope that helps explain it, I am sorry for any confusion!

Kindergarten with Krash ~ RRSK/Oo, Cats

K-with-Krash2_thumb1122222222222222

Krash has officially completed Kindergarten, I have turned in all of his Calvert assessments and his 1st grade box is on order.  I still consider him in Kindergarten for now, although we are in more of a transition phase.  I DO plan to do the rest of the RRSK Bible verses with him, they will probably be just video posts for you so there is a record of how to sing them We are also continuing on with All About Reading, in the fall or possibly sooner, I will add in All About Spelling Level 1.

RRSK Letter Oo Printables Here!

If you want early access to printables beyond what I have blogged about, you can see info about purchasing here!  Currently I have units Aa-Rr available in the early access section.

We began reviewing All About Reading Level 1 awhile ago, and Krash continues to make consistent progress.  You can read more about why we are choosing to review this homeschool reading program here in our “Current Curriculum” post {see FAQ}.

I wrote a lot about our initial thoughts and experiences with AAR in this Kindergarten with Krash post.

We have moved on to final blends, initial blends, and doubles {ff, ll, ss}!IMG_4968

He is flying along, I am so happy with his progress.  He definitely prefers the games over the flashcards!  I included fruit snacks as little treats during one game, he loved that!

~~~ CAT THEME ~~~
Since Ladybug had a CAT theme, I expanded on this for Krash, but with a different focus.  I chose a couple of fun cat books and we did activities based around those!  I found several fun activities for the book, “Cookie’s Week” on Making Learning Fun, so we did some of those.IMG_5875
He helped Ladybug work on an interactive bookIMG_5858
We ordered the days of the week based on the story…IMG_5880
We have this book, “One Hungry Cat” and I decided to make the math story come alive for him one day.IMG_5903
The book has a lot of dividing to make groups equal, it was a great hands on lesson for him!IMG_5890
IMG_5892
There was an added bonus too, which he loved even more!IMG_5901
Shaving Cream sensory play, still loves this at almost 6!IMG_5506
IMG_5515
I have been looking into some OT items for him, he struggles with wanting to wiggle and move constantly.  Here he was holding a “fidget” to help him focus a bit.  It helped some.IMG_4970
I also ordered him a balance disk, for 2 reasons.  One is for him to actually have a place to go like this and practice his balance, it is an amazing tool!  This tool can also be used for wiggly children to sit on, here’s an article written by an OT, where I learned about this.  He doesn’t really like sitting on it much for now, but it is GREAT for calming him down with the balancing.IMG_5559
He is LOVING our What’s in the Bible time, and also really likes to color, so it’s a win-win for Krash!IMG_5952
iPad learning fun. We have tons of new apps, some free, some paid.  This first one is a paid app and Ladybug and Krash LOVE it!  It is called Tally Tots, and it is geared more towards the preschool crowd, but Krash loves the counting to 100 section!IMG_4926
A free app we have been loving is, Sushi Monster.  It works with math facts; addition and multiplication.  Krash LOVES it!!!IMG_5869
I get asked a lot about our iPad 2 case-it’s the Trident Kraken II and yes we love it! See all of our posts about iPad apps and more here! The stylus we have that he uses sometimes is this one.
Theme: Star Wars
You can download all of the printables for this unit FREE here on the main RRSK page, just scroll down until you see them!  We have backed off from doing all 10 of the provided activities in the RRSK units.  As he progresses, some items aren’t necessary anymore and either we skip them or go through them quickly.  My main goal in using the RRSK lessons is the Bible work and simple review of other K skills.
I haven’t posted in awhile, so I am combining letter Mm and Nn in this post!
Krash has completed all 18 units from You Can Read, so we are spending time reviewing the words he knows!  Here’s a bit of what we have done together recently.
I gave him the final word reading assessment {YCR add-on}, he only missed a few and was really excited!IMG_1924
He completed the 10 minute writing words assessment and wrote 28 words on his own!IMG_1929
He really enjoys his reading book, I even caught him reading during his free time one day {a RARE thing for this active boy}
imageIt was Star Wars week for Krash!  It was his choice and he now knows ALL of the characters and everything else.  Daddy LOVED Star Wars as a kid so had a blast watching the movies with the boys for the first time.
I made the props into magnets on our cookie sheet, he and Ladybug both loved these!
IMG_2493
We made words using the Read, Build, Write cards.  He doesn’t love these so we only did a few.  He likes them a lot better using the cookie sheet and the matching character!
K-with-Krash-Misc_thumb_thumb_thumb_[1]
Krash spends most morning playing, he isn’t allowed to “play” with electronics, but is free to choose anything else for the most part.  I loved the day he chose dominoes and built this!IMG_3167
We are still enjoying www.Cookie.com.  It has tons of cute games for young kids and the layout of the site is easy to navigate.  Here he was reading one of the stories.IMG_2754
I recently upgraded on Starfall to the “More Starfall” section for Ladybug, it is her favorite site and she was THRILLED to have the rest of the games open up!  Thankfully there’s lots on it for Krash too, here he was doing some addition…IMG_3364
iPad learning fun. We have received many free apps lately, I have been sharing them all on my Facebook page as we find them, so be sure to follow me over there if you are interested!  Apps by Auryn gave away a free book a day for the month of March-K’s favorites are definitely the Miko books!  We have also gotten 2 new Toca Boca apps…Toca Store and Toca Kitchen Monsters!  Here they are playing Toca Store-which encourages 2 kids to interact together and take turns, it is wonderful!IMG_4234
I get asked a lot about our iPad 2 case-it’s the Trident Kraken II and yes we love it! See all of our posts about iPad apps and more here! The stylus we have that he uses sometimes is this one.
