Draw, Write, Now Book 6 Printables

Draw, Write, Now Book 6 Printables

I am continuing to plow through creating the Draw, Write, Now printables and recently got book 6 completed and will be completing the rest of the books, I promise!

Book 6 has the following themes; Animals & Habitats – On Land, Ponds & Rivers, Oceans. If you aren’t familiar with Draw, Write, Now, you can see the post I wrote last year when we gave a set away and learn more about them!

You may remember me sharing Book 1 last year, and the printables to go along.  These printables are exactly the same, two different options.  One for tracing, one for copying.  Both have the same drawing space.

I have been forgetting to take pictures of her desk set-up, but I remembered this week!  I added some letter fun also, featuring the letter O using our Letter Construction set, our alphabet peg set, our foam floor puzzle alphabet, and letter bean bags.  She loved this!

The printable items are all available here on the Animal ABCs webpage. {files are released for free when they are posted on the Totally Tots blog for the ABC feature, letter O is not free yet, but it will be once it is posted on Totally Tots!}.

Life-School4

We have a herd of caterpillars around here, collected by my sons from the backyard.  Pac is keeping his stash in our butterfly house, and they are doing well.  Ladybug has her own set in a glass jar and carries the poor things around with her everywhere!  Here, she was observing one of them as it played outside of it’s cage.

Here are some Letter J and Jellyfish ideas for you…

She seems to be over the whole dry erase thing, so we are using markers on paper, which she loves.IMG_6151

    IMG_6163

She also loves glitter, so we are pulling that in a lot {which I don’t love}.IMG_6168

We changed up the coloring and used paint instead!IMG_6122

Here she is working on Letter Jj Dot Fun, first she colored in all of the dots.  This set is included in the Animal ABC Bundle, or you can purchase the set as a stand alone set for $1.25 on Teacher’s Notebook.IMG_6154

Then she watched as I traced each letter with glue, then she glittered them!IMG_6155

    IMG_6158

We slipped our Play Dough Mat into our Dry Erase Center, and made the letters together.  After making the letters, she poked them! IMG_6128

She worked with me to make the letter craft, which is basically an open ended project that you can do whatever you want with!  This week I let her marble paint the letter sheet before I cut it out, she LOVED this!IMG_6113

    IMG_6118

She cut the jellyfish all on her own this week!IMG_6132

She also glued them all on her own too, she’s getting so big!IMG_6198

We are taking our All About Reading Pre Level 1 lessons slowly.  I am not expecting mastery from Ladybug, just using this program as a way to expose her to the Big Five Skills.

This week we did lesson 10, continuing our work with rhyming words.  No photos of that part this week!

Here she was coloring the Jackrabbit sheet..IMG_6215

I tried out the free version of the app, Letter School and fell in LOVE, so I bought it for Ladybug!  Best full price purchase I have made in awhile, if not ever, for our iPad! IMG_6184

She uses her finger as shown above and also uses our stylus some, she loves both.  This app has become a FAST favorite, she chooses it a LOT and I love it!IMG_6222

We also love the freebie we got last week, Wee Sing ABC.  This is a $2.99 app and we are so thankful we snagged it for free.  Be sure to follow me on Facebook, I always share these deals when I find them!IMG_6091

  • Tot School ~ Letter D

    ~Ladybug is currently 33.5 months old~

    Animal-ABC-Button922

Here is her desk set up for letter D…

    IMG_0505  IMG_0499

The items in the pocket chart are all available here on the Animal ABCs webpage.  I added dolphins on her desk, and also a little basket with shells and mini wooden dolphins we had. {files are released for free when they are posted on the Totally Tots blog for the ABC feature, letter D is not free yet, but it will be once it is posted on Totally Tots!}.

We also had several dolphin books off to the side in her pink basket. Our Betty Lukens Ocean Felt Set was displayed for her also.IMG_0506

Here are some Letter D and Dolphin ideas for you…

On our other shelf I put our water beads tub and showed her that she could add the shells and dolphins into it.  She LOVED it.  Hours of play have taken place with this bin!IMG_0509IMG_0514 IMG_0516

She finally wanted to color her flashcards, she asked for them specifically and wanted me to color one and she wanted to color this one…    IMG_0523

She worked in her notebook a lot, but not as much as Letter A and Letter B week!IMG_0530

She really enjoys the coloring each week, here she was coloring her dolphins and had set up her dolphin puppet to watch her!IMG_0533

I created a new activity for her, which I have added to the Animal ABC purchase page for now {if you have already purchased, just log back in and download the Dot Fun set, if you purchase now, it is included with the rest of the set!}.  I might offer these one by one for free in the future but I am short on time for now, so the set is only available in the bundle option.  Here she is working on Letter D Dot Fun, she chose to use stickers.  I offered her the option of using pom pom magnets, dot paint, or stickers and she chose stickers!IMG_0651

She worked with me to make the letter craft, which is basically an open ended project that you can do whatever you want with!  I offered her blue “snow paint” which obviously we called “ocean paint” for this activity!  She painted her letter D, IMG_0654

Then we stuck her dolphins right in the paint, since it has glue in the mixture, this worked perfectly!IMG_0659

After crafting, she played!  We added her mini dolphin toys to the fun and she was in HEAVEN!IMG_0676

    IMG_0679

We are taking our All About Reading Pre Level 1 lessons slowly.  I am not expecting mastery from Ladybug, just using this program as a way to expose her to the Big Five Skills.  She is a bit too young for the program and Krash is a bit too old, so that’s why we are using it together.

This week we did lesson 4, again, working on rhyming words.

She chose to color her letter D page by herself this week, wanting the entire thing dark blue…IMG_0524

One day I was feeling brave so we made snowmen together.  We used “snow paint.”  I had each child choose a color too, Ladybug chose purple.  I cut out her snowman circles for her and then she went at it!IMG_0565

After the painting was done, we played with the shaving cream alone!  I cannot believe I waited so long to let her do this, she LOVED, LOVED, LOVED it!IMG_0593

    IMG_0623

The next day we designed our snowmen, here is Ladybug’s sad man…IMG_0694

Ocean Life ~ August ~ Calendar Connections Cards

I have been brainstorming with my good friend Shannon since the idea of Calendar Connections came to me.  We have decided to move forward as a team.  She is a fellow inner city missionary with me and also a homeschooler {and former school teacher}.  She has 4 kiddos ages 1, 6, 12, and 14.  She wrote the facts for this set and I created the final file, it was a total team effort!  In order to help support their missionary family, all ocean life books linked in the file and in the Amazon widgets are linked to her account.  If you make a purchase through those links you will be supporting their family!!!

We chose an Ocean theme for August.  The facts are written at a 3-6th grade level but you will be able to water them down for younger kids.  It’s a great way to involve your entire family in exploring a particular theme.

    OCean Life Calendar Connections

The cards fit my particular pocket chart calendar {which is currently out of stock on Oriental Trading}, item # IN-62/2017…

    image_thumb1

but you could use a poster foam board and velcro to easily create your own set up.  You could also use a standard pocket chart.  They seem like they would fit in this calendar on Amazon but I am not certain.

    Ocean Calendar Card Facts

I printed my numbers on cardstock and laminated them before cutting them apart.

You can download these for FREE here!

Did anyone else use the July Calendar Cards?  We did and they were a HUGE success {still are as we are finishing up}!  We played tons of review games and used little fruit snacks {and M&Ms one day…they were THRILLED} that I tossed them when they could answer my quiz questions.  I am absolutely amazed with the knowledge Krash has soaked up.
