BUT, you don’t have to use this eBook with the CC cards, it can stand alone as a simple way to learn about a particular topic.  The series is created with 3rd-6th graders in mind, but it isn’t limited to those grades.  It is a great way to explore a topic across grade levels within your homeschool!

The Let’s Explore Bugs eBook will only be offered for free with a special link at the bottom of the daily 1+1+1=1 email or RSS feed every day through June 15, 2012.  It won’t be anywhere else right now!  Eventually the set will be for sale, so get it for free now while you can!

If you don’t subscribe yet, just click here for email and then be sure to confirm your email address once you get the initial email from Feedburner {be sure to check your spam folders if you can’t find the email}.  If you’d rather read in an RSS reader like Google Reader, just click here!  If you have any questions, just leave me a comment!  I am grateful for all of you who follow here regularly and hope this freebie blesses you!

If you have any trouble downloading your subscriber freebie, I recommend first trying to right click and save to your computer and then open.  I also recommend trying to use a different internet browser, sometimes that’s the problem.  You can also see the troubleshooting tips in this post {these tips are also for any other PDF files you may have issues with!}.

Calendar Connections ~ Bugs

My wonderful friend Shannon is still working with me to create the Calendar Connections cards. She is a fellow inner city missionary with me and also a homeschooler {and former school teacher}.

We chose the theme of Bugs for June!Calendar Connections Bugs

The facts are written at a 3-6th grade level but you will be able to water them down for younger kids. It’s a great way to involve your entire family in exploring a particular theme.

The cards fit my particular pocket chart calendar, I ordered mine from Oriental Trading but they now have the same one on Amazon!

but you could use a poster foam board and velcro to easily create your own set up. You could also use a standard pocket chart. They seem like they would fit in this calendar on Amazon but I am not certain.

I am now creating smaller sets to go along with the small pocket charts found recently in the Target $1 section. Be sure to visit this post for a tutorial of how to sew your $1 pocket chart into a calendar!Calendar Connections Small Bugs

There is also a new sheet included to be used in a Calendar Notebook if you are using those too!

I printed my numbers on cardstock and laminated them before cutting them apart.

You can download these for FREE here!

You can use most of our Calendar Connections cards for any month! We now have 12 sets to choose from, and we will still be adding more too!Calendar Connections Set 1

This week I set up both sides with the bug theme, I won’t always do this-especially for smaller themes.  Bugs was the theme for Krash and PacMan too, so it took over homeschool {and still is!}

She found our Do U Know? cards and we played for a really long time together.  We named the Bible characters and then she matched them all up…IMG_9996

We have a mission team here serving with us this week and it is made up of some really awesome friends from our hometown.  They brought their kids to serve also and it is wonderful.  We went out on Friday night to tour our city and while out a big rainstorm hit!  It was  such fun to watch the kids enjoy the cool rain on such a hot summer evening! Ladybug was loving it, eyeing the big kids… IMG_0194

Then finally heading out herself and dancing until it stopped, entertaining us all!
