Create Your Own Alphabet Posters

Create Your Own Alphabet Posters

Involving young children in the early years is one of my favorite things. When decorating a classroom, teachers often use cute pre-made letter posters to showcase the alphabet. What if your child helped create their own Alphabet Posters for the wall in their classroom, homeschool room or even their bedroom?

This new printable set included two different poster options and both are included in the free sample download and the full download.

Each letter offers 6-8 images for your child to add to each poster, showcasing words that begin with that letter.

Letter Posters (1 of 4)

These posters are great for letter identification, beginning sound awareness, letter formation visuals, and give your child something that s/he participated in to create – which often means s/he will pay more attention to the final product! “I did it!” goes a long way with little kids!

WHY use Q-Tip Painting Printables?

The big answer is fine motor skills! You’ll notice how we focus on not only the tiny dots, but also using small items in painting or adding to the dots. All of this works on hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills

The letter/number identification is a secondary bonus!

What Begins With…A to Z

What Begins with A to Z

Years ago I created Kindergarten Literature Units for 9 of my daughter’s favorite books. I focused her Kindergarten experience around these, incorporating my Kindergarten literacy and math goals for her into these units. We used a few other fun things for her Kindergarten curriculum, but these units were by far our favorite!

One of the elements in many of the units was a page called “Phonics Connection” which you can see in action here:

I had always intended to make a full set for the entire alphabet but never got around to it! A few readers have asked and I am happy to say that I finally have it done!

Each page looks like this when you print it out:

Alphabet Printables What Begins with (2)

There are a few different options, depending on your child. Sometimes we cut the letters out, sometimes we didn’t! Sometimes she cut out the images and sometimes I did it with her. As we worked through sorting the different images, she also learned vocabulary words. My daughter loved tape, so I often let her tape her images onto the letter. You can also practice with glue –“just a dot, not a lot,” or a glue stick.

There’s also an answer guide for parents, in case any of the images are confusing!

U.S.A. State By State

USA State by State

We have a brand new product thanks to my son! I wanted something to help him review the United States but without coloring, and all of the fluffy stuff like birds, flowers, etc. Honestly I am not really concerned if he knows a state’s bird or flower. I want him to know the location, capital, abbreviation and how to spell the state’s name. I also wanted him to practice reading and writing cursive in a simple format so I added that in also!

And…USA State by State was created!

Each state has 1 page and he will write the state’s name, color in the state’s location and look up the capital and record it. He uses one of our United States Geography to look up the capital and abbreviation if he can’t remember it.

USA State by State Printables

In addition to the pages for each state, there’s also a sheet at the front to record each state in alphabetical order. The map gets filled in as he works through the states one by one.

Another fun page I included is a sheet to record states you’ve been to! This one is really popular with my kids already and has brought up much conversation!

USA State By State (1 of 1)

I used our binding machine to bind the pages together to create a book that’s easy to work through. Not sure how I made it so long as a homeschooler without my binding machine!

After every 10 states, I added in our States and Capitals review pages also. You can download those for free here!
