It has been years since I have released a new Kindergarten Literature Unit Study Printable Pack but finally, we have a new one!
I based this new set off of the book SCOOT by, Cathryn Falwell, featuring a fun pond theme!
Set the stage for your POND theme by gathering all of your pond toys and books! It helps to draw your child in and get her/him excited about your learning time together.
Don’t have a lot of pond toys and books? Ask friends, go to the library, or buy some things you think might be a good long term investment for your homeschool!
Be sure to purchase the book SCOOT or check it out from your library. In addition to the main book, I recommend adding in all sorts of fun pond theme books to bring the theme alive!
Here is a downloadable library checklist for pond books!
Add a pond theme sensory bin to your fun!
For each unit, I select Kindergarten math goals from our list. For this unit I chose ordinal numbers, counting by 10s, coin identification, and 100s Chart Mystery Picture.
Lots of literacy activities; rhyming, counting syllables, sequencing the story, comprehension questions, matching words, and beginning sound – letter P and 2 part cards.
The science activities: label parts of a frog, and frog life cycle.
A new addition to our packs – photo cards! I chose real life photos of all of the plants and animals featured in the book. These can be printed and laminated for use in all sorts of ways! Play memory {print 2 sets}, find the animals in the book, practice writing the names of the animals.
Another fun new addition focuses on listening skills while also brining in some literacy and math skills!
Create your own activity with this blank chart! Write in whatever your child is working on – letters, numbers, shapes, colors, etc.
The character connection is focused taking turns and our Bible verse is about the wonderful creatures God made!

Coloring page just for fun!
