Christmas Gift Ideas ~ Preschool

Gift Ideas..allI get asked a lot about gift ideas, so I thought it might be helpful to throw a few out there with some mini reviews on each item. We personally own everything I recommend, and I will never recommend something we don’t love! You will notice some cross-over from my Christmas Ideas for Tots post. If I felt it was good for both, I listed it in both places.

I am also a believer in LESS is MORE, so although I recommend things, please know that things don’t make us happy…they are just a small addition to an already full life in Christ. I don’t in any way believe that Christmas is about stuff. I realize gifts are a natural part {especially from grandparents!}, and I love getting recommendations also, which is why I share with you! I may add to the list as I think of other ideas, so be sure to check back!

This is my list of ideas for preschoolers, gearing towards ages 3-5. I will link to everything where I find the best online price {most of the time it is Amazon}. Most links are affiliate links, some are not {if I am not affiliated with the particular company}. If you purchase anything through an affiliate link, you give back a percentage to our family…thanks!

Learning Toys

Her 3 “new” {rotated} learning toys {Pet Sounds Puzzle, Shape Sorter, Honey Bee Tree Game}, she loved her toys this week and played with them all every day! IMG_3067IMG_3068IMG_3074IMG_3095

There are also several toys she has access to all of the time {they aren’t rotated but are stored in labeled drawers in our schoolroom}, she continues to love her magnetic dollsIMG_3166

Tot-Trays6I finally organized her Tot Trays {mainly for myself and my mommy-brain} and labeled them all so I wouldn’t forget my own plan! I labeled her drawers to remind myself of the different things I wanted to have for her each week. I am not changing these out weekly, but when I notice she isn’t interested in a particular item, then I will add a new twist to engage her!IMG_3015 Since you can’t see them clearly…

  1. Tot Tray-Beading
  2. Tot Tray-Small Spaces
  3. Tot Tray-Small Muscles
  4. Tot Tray-Pouring
  5. Tot Tray-Transfer
  6. Tot School Toy

~edited to add…I got some ?s about the drawers we have! They are from Ikea, the Trofast system!

To see descriptions and ideas for each category, you can visit my Tot Trays webpage. I actually visit my own page often to refresh myself!!!

This week she poured styrofoam peanuts {this was a bit frustrating for her}…IMG_3155

She preferred to just put the peanuts into things!IMG_3159

Poked pick-up-sticks into a parmesan cheese container{she LOVED this}…IMG_3183

She dropped little plastic hearts and stars onto stirring sticks {from Target} that were stuck into a foam circle to make them stand up. She LOVED this too!IMG_3216

Her Tot School Toy this week was Learning Links. She loves these! IMG_3055

Something Special ~ Turkey Songs

Turkey Songs

For our weekly music time, we sing many of the same songs each week {which you can find here}, and I am also adding in some special seasonal songs. This week I chose a few TURKEY SONGS from my former Kindergarten teaching days. The kids liked them, and especially enjoyed the colored feathers to put on the nekkid turkey ;-).

Here’s an Instagram video of my daughter singing the song!

Also, I used a craft this week that was one of those package deals from the craft store.  You know the type, the ones that are supposed to be easy-peasy, but rarely are. These fancy little turkeys drove me nuts.  Yes, they turned out cute, but good grief, they were annoying to make.IMG_3136_thumb[1]

Visit the Fall Fun webpage to see the downloads for the Turkey Songs and more!

Raising Rock Stars ~ Psalm 62:1-2

Psalm 62:1-2

Our night was based upon the song, Never Be Shaken {Psalm 62:1-2} from Seeds of Courage.

Truly my soul finds rest in God;
my salvation comes from him.
Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will never be shaken

I was able to capture Krash in motion as he did the movements I made up for the song.  On the left he is making his “fortress” and on the right he was “shaking.”

Of course we used the great  printables Valerie made for Totally Tots to learn this verse and what it means.

Straws into an empty container…or raining straws!

Life School

I don’t know how Pac Man ever gets anything done!IMG_2808

She is also very into destroying Krash’s learning area.  I caught her up on his table taking out all of his writing/drawing supplies!IMG_2903

She loves her little wooden horse {$5 at a consignment sale}IMG_2912

Moms Favorite

Ladybug is into her sign language, BIG time!  It is so cute!  We signed with both boys too, but Ladybug has taken to it in a way neither of the boys really did.  I finally caught a photo of her signing her favorite word…kitty {you can see the cat rubbing against her in the bottom left corner too} 😉 IMG_2864This girl loves her kitty-kitty, and even though he is old and not always the friendliest, he adores her.  He is so gentle and patient with her, it’s so sweet.
