Counting is for the Birds Kindergarten Literature Unit Printables

Our next Kindergarten Literature Unit Study Printable Pack is ready, Counting is for the Birds by Frank Mazzola Jr.!  We are technically closer to 1st grade now so I adapted this set to her needs.  It would be a better pack for later in the Kindergarten year for most children.

Counting is for the Birds is a favorite book of Ladybug’s, featuring another of her favorites ~ BIRDS!  It features many of her very favorite birds, lots that we find on our own feeders! You can get the book here!

In this printable unit you will find a sample lesson plan.  I provide a lesson plan idea, but even I probably won’t follow this, it is just an idea.  Make this work for you and your child!

For each unit, I am selecting Kindergarten math goals from our list. For this unit I chose ordinal numbers, skip counting by 2s, basic fractions and 100s Chart Mystery Picture.

The character connection is focused on identifying times to be quiet and times to be louder, since bird watching is a quiet activity.

Bible verses are available in a few different formats, choose the one you like best.

Easter Story Printables

Retelling the Easter Story

I found a great Easter resource right before Easter this year and wanted to share, even though Easter has passed.  It is a great resource to save for next year!

These printables are from My Wonder Studio, you can download everything you see in my post on their site! We used the color flannelgraph characters, and the BW He’s Alive! Coloring book scaled down to mini pictures.

My daughter LOVED using these characters all week as we learned together.  Instead of using them as flannelgraph figures, I printed on cardstock, laminated and used play dough to stand them up!

We used the printable coloring book and recreated each scene together as we read.  We also glued the mini scaled down page down as we worked through the story.

Easter -6328

This was such a simple and meaningful way to review the story of Easter with her.  I am so thankful I found these in time to use with her this year!

Crawly Creatures Montessori Printables

Montessori Nomenclature Printables 3 Part Cards Bugs and Creatures

I have been meaning to add to our Montessori Printables collection for years and was finally inspired to finish some sets I had begun long ago! I have a few more sets I am working on and hope to continue sharing these as I complete them.

For today, here is our new Crawly Creatures set.  It began as just bugs, but I wanted to include a snail, slug, and worm so I had to change the name!

Unfamiliar with Nomenclature cards, also called 3-Part cards?

Nomenclature cards are a Montessori based idea. The word Nomenclature comes from the Latin “nomenclatura” which means assigning of names to things. Nomenclature cards are also called “3 part cards” for obvious reasons!

Here’s a couple of articles sharing more about the what, why,  and how!

Download your FREE Crawly Creatures Nomenclature Cards here!

The sets available are listed in alphabetical order, look for the words “Crawly Creatures” and click!

Easter Q-Tip Painting Printables

Easter Q-Tip Painting Printables

We have a new Easter Q-Tip Painting set for you! This set has Christian and secular symbols of Easter. Personally, we don’t do “the bunny” but I used to be a public school teacher so I fully understand the restrictions of using certain symbols around religious holidays!  I also know many of you do the bunny in your home, so I put him in this packet.  If you are like us and don’t do bunnies, just ignore him!

There’s a color and BW version of each word, with the beginning sound at the top for Q-tip painting!

We use water colors mostly, but sometimes use Tempera paint too.

I hope many of you enjoy these printables with your kids or in your classroom!

WHY use Q-Tip Painting Printables?

The big answer is fine motor skills! You’ll notice how we focus on not only the tiny dots, but also using small items in painting or adding to the dots. All of this works on hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills

The letter identification is a secondary bonus!

See ideas for using these here!
