Moments to Remember

Moments to remember

Moments to Remember was developed as a simple way to look back on our week as homeschoolers and find photos that encompass the memories we want to remember.

The week may have been tough, there may have been more bumps than smiles, but in the end these are the moments that keep us going, the ones we need to remember.

PacMan took this picture of me and Krash as he was reading his All About Reading book to me.  I LOVE seeing my children learn to read.

Exploring Pac’s new spin art gift he got from his church Christmas party.  I love the way Pac let each of the little 2 do their own piece of art and delighted in their joy.IMG_8167

Pac also snapped this photo of us learning together on the iPad, which we use more and more for school these days.  I can see a peek of my green Christmas hair tie that Ladybug wanted me to put in my hair to match hers.IMG_8059

A little afternoon Veggie Tales movie, on the iPad, in the bean bag, with your cat…certainly can’t get that at school!IMG_8178

The iPad is a huge part of our school time.  Most of the time, the little princess rules the pad.  I love this shot of the boys watching over her shoulder as she plays.  Such a common sight in our home, one I will always remember!

Ladybug sitting with Krash {almost every lesson, not just this one} as he does his All About Reading work.  Here he was feeding the monster his words and Ladybug was “helping” him.  IMG_7664

My 3 kids playing with our new play dough box and supplies together.  The giggles were extreme as they were making gingerbread men and acting out the story!   In the moment I was a bit stressed out by all of the noise {just being honest} but looking back I can only see the joy.

I totally did not plan to have this many moments, but when I went through my photos from this past week, these all stood out to me.

All 3 kids gathered around Krash while he was excelling in math while playing an advanced game for his age on First in Math.  This is also special because Pac is the one who has inspired him with this program {Pac uses it for his school}.  He has taught Krash many of the more complicated games and helped him figure out which ones he can handle.

Part of the reason my boys stand out to me is because these moments are NOT the norm.  Sure, they adore each other but they also drive each other and ME nuts.  These photos show me that it isn’t nearly as bad as I tend to think it is.

Pac has taken on my love of technology and is currently learning to make PowerPoint shows {similar to the ones I create for the Members Only section}.  He made a word family show for Krash and here he was showing it to him.

Glancing over and seeing my guys working together at a table.  Sure, they may have been arguing or their notebooks touching each other, BUT when the photo stops the action all I notice is the fact that my Kindergartener and 4th grader are working together.  For that I am thankful.

Honestly it was a bit of a crazy week and I found myself just longing for the holiday weekend to be here.  I was not the best mom or teacher but we still managed to have moments like these.  Having the kids home IS worth it and I am thankful.

~edited to add…I am sorry I guess the concept of this linky is a bit confusing, it is specifically for a Moments to Remember post-not a craft, or a weekly round up.  It is a place to choose 1 or a few photos of your children that show the heart and reason behind why you homeschool and the memories from the week that you want to remember. Model your post after the post above or Jolanthe’s first post here and you’ll get the idea!  If you haven’t written a specific Moments to Remember post-please do not link up.  Thank you and sorry again for the confusion about what types of posts to link up.

Moments to Remember…Coming SOON!

What do you want to remember about homeschooling?

Arguing, whining, complaining, attitude problems?

Of course not…so let’s focus on the moments we DO want to remember!

Jolanthe and I are excited to share a new weekly linky with you that we will be hosting together.  The response on my post last week “10 Reasons Homeschooling IS Worth It” was astounding.  From comments, emails and more…it was made very clear that we all really need to spend some time regularly focusing on these types of homeschooling moments ~ the ones we actually want to remember!

Each Saturday Jolanthe and I will rotate hosting a linky for you to have the opportunity to look back on YOUR homeschooling week and choose the moments you want to remember.  These most likely will have little to do with actual school most of the time ~ and more to do with relationships.  They may be funny, may be sentimental, but overall they are the things that keep us going.

I take photos of my homeschooling largely for this reason.  It stops the action and allows me to focus in on the good memories.  I always am thankful that pictures don’t have sound!  We can spend many hours homeschooling and often those can be very difficult and draining hours.  Let’s gather together and celebrate the moments to remember.  Your posts can be as simple as one photo, or as detailed as you would like!

Starting next Saturday, you will see this on my blog…
