Home Preschool Letter W

Each week I share 2-3 posts sharing our home preschool learning.  This post is only sharing our letter focused work. If we have a theme of the week, it will be a separate post too.  All of our general play based learning will be in a final weekly wrap up post called, “Learning with Ladybug.”  I am separating out the posts to make them easier for people to find down the road when searching for specific letter/theme activities.  See our entire home preschool plan here!

CRAFTS

I printed the wolf and the whale for her, but she only wanted to make the whale this week.  She finger painted it!

PRINTABLES

I am trying the tray set up again, putting her letter focused printables here for her to choose from. It didn’t seem to impress her much.  She seems to prefer sitting at my table and waiting to see what I will hand her from my folder of stuff.

Animal ABC lowercase w was supposed to be for wolf, but she wanted it to be for Wall-E! So, she drew Wall-E and Eve on her w.

ABC Find It!  Her favorite thing is to hide the image cards around the room and find them!

She enjoyed a few activities from the Letter W pack that we were given.  Here  she was coloring the letter W words on the W.

Cutting out her word cards and getting ready to play “smack it” with me!

Home Preschool Letter W -5359 Home Preschool Letter W -5362

I yell out a word and she finds it and smacks it!

We also did a bit of sorting, animals and food.

She LOVES our AlphaTales books and looks forward to reading the new one each week.

Our All About Reading Pre lesson for lowercase w is for water.  She wanted to scribble the water and get straight to the thumbprint fish!

Wall-E Preschool Printables & Activities We Used ~

We have no Wall-E toys, so I made the best theme shelf I could!  We do have 2 Wall-E books {Smash Trash & Love at First Beep} and  and she hasn’t seen them in awhile so she was thrilled.

I set up some of the printables and although I was under-impressed with the set up, she was thrilled!

I wrote about my views on using themes with young kids, and there are certainly a LOT of early childhood themes to choose from! When you begin planning, Pinterest and Google can be a bit overwhelming! I am creating this series to help you with your planning. I have gathered all FREE theme based printable packs {mainly early childhood focused, tots-1st grade} that I am aware of and sorted them by letter so you can browse through and get ideas all in one place! I did NOT include holiday based packs, simply because there are so many and they are pretty easy to find when holidays roll around.

I have included free printable theme packs from bloggers around the web including; Homeschool Creations, 2 Teaching Mommies, Spell Outloud, 3 Dinosaurs, Confessions of a Homeschooler, Me & Marie Learning, Ooopsey Daisy, Royal Baloo, 123 Homeschool 4 Me, Lawteedah, Our Little MonkeysHomeschool Share, Gift of Curiosity, and Over the Big Moon. {if any of you ladies notice an error/edit please let me know!}

If the pack was created by another blogger, I listed their {blog name} in the brackets. If there aren’t any brackets, I made it!

Girlfriend had almost all of her “extra” work completed before I even made it downstairs last Monday!  She found it on her desk and got busy!!

I made a simple sensory bin with rocks and shells for our walrus and whales to play in…

We are back to doing All About Reading Pre Level 1 once a week. I am not expecting mastery from Ladybug, just using this program as a way to expose her to the Big Five Skills. Homeschool-2333

I LOVE her walrus!!!!

Obviously, she played a LOT, but this is the only photo I have for the week!  She got these word puzzles down and did them almost entirely by herself!Homeschool-2446

Ladybug is quite the artist, which certainly is not a gift from me.  She spends most of her free time coloring and drawing.  One afternoon she colored a few extra “Buck Denver” pictures.  On the right are a few of her drawings from this past week.  Bottom left is a “worm-cat”, bottom right is a dinosaur.  Pac drew the star on the top page for her and she colored it and drew our family.

Watching her have a blast in her gymnastics class just melts my heart.  She absolutely loves it and just smiles the entire time!
