Tot School ~ Letter U

~ Ladybug is 41 Months Old ~Tot-School

Animal ABC Button

Totally forgot to take a picture of her desk for letter U, it wasn’t too fancy since I don’t have any umbrella birds around.

I made Ladybug another letter bin, this time adding our letter U stuff into a basket.  She wanted to keep her letter T stuff too, so it stayed in a bin too.  She loved digging through the basket with me!Tot School Letter U-1540

She found all of the little puzzles to do, and laid it all out on the floor as she admired it.  After it was all out, I arranged it and snapped a pic so you could see what was in it!  Alphabet Soup set, ABC peg set, Magnetic Letters, Ladybug Alphabet Puzzle, and more!Tot School Letter U-1547

I drew a big U on our easel and she wanted to draw stripes all over it!Tot School Letter U-1549

The printable items shown below are all available here on the Animal ABCs webpage. {files are released for free when they are posted on the Totally Tots blog for the ABC feature, letter U is not free yet, but it will be once it is posted on Totally Tots!}.

One night after dinner, she asked to do her school work and proceeded to work through all of her pages!Tot School Letter U-1565

No, she didn’t have gymnastics this day, but YES, she did wear her leotard all day long because she wuvs it.Tot School Letter U-1566

She was thrilled to do her cutting, and did it with ease!Tot School Letter U-1570

We marble painted her letter U…Tot School Letter U-1578

She finished her coloring on this day…Tot School Letter U-1640

Then asked me to cut them out so we could hide them and find them together.  After that I had her jump to the color I yelled out, she loved this!Tot School Letter U-1642

Here she is working on Letter Uu Dot Fun, we used finger paint . This set is included in the Animal ABC Bundle, or you can purchase the set as a stand alone set for $1.25 on Teacher’s Notebook.Tot School Letter U-1581

We finger painted a lot.  I used masking tape to make her name and then she painted over it.  The reveal when I pulled off the tape was awesome, she loved it!Tot School Letter U-1586

We played Pengoloo and Gobblet Gobblers several times.  These are two of my favorite preschool games, and the older boys still love them too!Tot School Letter U-1610

Her shelves were mostly MONSTER themed, with a few random items!

On her shelves…  IMG_5091

  • top left shelf…Make a Monster with Stickers {stickers are from old balloon kits}
  • top middle shelfMini Monster Notebooks and pencils
  • top right shelf…Monster Puzzle {Target $1 last year}
  • bottom left…Ping Pong Balls, tongs transfer
  • bottom middle…Pouring beads
  • bottom right…Mini pipe cleaners into tiny holes {not even sure what the white thing is, some sort of kitchen straining item}

She loves pouring.  The pitcher is from Ikea, she’s pouring random beads into a silver tin.IMG_5154

Using her tongs to transfer ping pong balls into a paint tray…IMG_5157

Poking thin pipe cleaners into a kitchen strainer thing…IMG_5276

She played a lot with the nesting blocks as you can see from her outfits below!  IMG_5220

She finally mastered stacking them all in order on her own!  Very proud girl!

Stacking pegs came out a lot too…IMG_5089

A little Connect Four, played toddler style {no rules}…IMG_5282

We had a fun monster week around here!  Our Create-A-Monster Sensory Bin was a BIG hit with Ladybug!  She made MANY monsters and came up with some really cute creations

IMG_5123  IMG_5135

We pulled out our Monster Tot Pack {I LOVE being able to just pull folders out of things I already printed for Krash in the past!}.  She matched monsters to their shapes in our mini pocket chartIMG_5194

Matching dot colors, this was a bit challenging for her!IMG_5196

We sang a silly little song about which shape was on top of the monster’s head.IMG_5200

Ordering monsters by size…IMG_5201

She enjoyed dot painting monsters, both from Our Little Monkeys and 2 Teaching Mommies.IMG_5209

IMG_5707

She also used them for cutting practice!IMG_5718

She loved matching the monsters.  I made this for Krash years ago.  Just took a pack of stickers and stuck one set down and laminated the cut up other set for matching.IMG_5715

I also had left over monster making sets from K’s monster theme so she made one too.  The one on the top was made by Krash  years ago!IMG_5713

We used many left over balloon face sticker sheets we had to create monsters together.  This was a favorite of L-bug this week!

IMG_5265  IMG_5268

IMG_5271

We have a monster puzzle that Krash used for his monster week when he was a tot, she worked on it with me a few times!IMG_5279

Her favorite of the week was by far coloring Boo.  She watched Monster’s Inc. with us at the beginning of the week and fell in love with Boo.  She didn’t care much for any scenes without Boo to be honest!  I printed many Boo pictures from this site and she colored a total of 7 throughout the week.IMG_5262

IMG_5311   IMG_5183

I don’t ever want to forget her obsessive coloring so I gathered them all for a group shot…

Of course, Ladybug still plays our iPad, often sitting in our bean bag.  This past week, she has spent most of her time playing Tozzle, Monkey Preschool, and Park Math.  She is still determined to figure out Monkey Math, which is Krash’s game, but it is a bit too hard for her. IMG_5379

People tell me all the time that we look so much alike, I take it as an extreme compliment, because I think my girl is adorable!  I can really see the resemblance in this shot from the pumpkin patch!  I love her happy smile!IMG_5652

Tot School ~ CHRISTmas Fun!

~Krash is currently 42.5 months old~

Learning Toys/Trays

It was a pretty normal week around our house, Krash had fun with a variety of toys! He did ALL of these shape puzzles, front and back of each! They are WAY too easy for him now, but he is still working on identifying certain shapes consistently.IMG_6709
He drew on his chalkboard, this was the first time I helped him trace a letter (v)…IMG_6775
He is finally able to stack his nesting blocks in size order with minimal help….IMG_6768
Always a favorite…the peg board set… IMG_6770
He saw these puzzles up on a shelf and asked to get them down, he proceeded to do all 4 puzzles, then asked me to read Wheels on the Bus when he did the bus puzzle! IMG_6673

Theme ~ CHRISTmas
We had fun reading Christmas books to go along with various printables from our Christmas Tot Pack. We read One Shining Star MANY times as we practiced courting the stockings 1-10…IMG_6663
He enjoyed reading Jesus, Me, and My Christmas Tree to himself first, and then had me read it to him before we sorted our trees into cups…IMG_6719 He liked making the little trees slide down the “mommy” trees into the cups…IMG_6722
I put magnets on the back of our ornament ABCs and he helped me put them in order on the dishwasher. He has since went back to them many times and is really getting good at pointing to the actual letter he is saying while singing the ABC song!IMG_6705I put our Veggie Tales Nativity on his shelf and he was so excited and has played with it almost every day! He has also LOVED our book, The Stable That Bob Built and talks about the play set while we read the book!IMG_6668

ABCs
We got 2 letters in this week! We started with Uu for umbrella… IMG_6714IMG_6716IMG_6717
Vv was next, I snapped a photo of our table top pocket chart which I am now using to display everything I can find for our current letter. He always has fun just looking through the items. Sometimes we play with them, sometimes he’s not interested…I put them up just in case!IMG_6766
He is really enjoying the new dot-paint sheets I am giving him now, I got U and V from Making Learning Fun.IMG_6788 IMG_6792
He wasn’t so into the volcano painting, so I had to finish the middle for him! IMG_6794

iTouch Learning Fun
Krash continue to enjoy my iTouch, Preschool Adventure is another favorite of his. He specifically likes the matching part of this game. He rolls the top, middle and bottom of a character to get them all matched up. When they are correct the character will animate…he loves it! This app also has other preschool skills for your tot! Find this and our other favorite Tot apps here!
Preschool Adventure

Life {FUN} School
Krash learned how cold snow really is! He went out on the deck and wanted back inside within minutes, telling us the snow wasn’t “big enough”…meaning it had not accumulated!! He was NOT interested in being wet and cold without some white stuff to actually play in!IMG_6839
Thankfully I snapped quickly while he was taking it all in within those few minutes!IMG_6837IMG_6840

Mommy’s Favorite
No words are necessary. I am sure every mom out there will understand why this is my favorite shot of my 3 year old boy ;-) .

If you have a tot (approximately ages 1-3) at home, join in the fun and share what you’re doing with your tot! Here’s how to get started if you’re new… If you’ve never read this: Go HERE 1st for more details- please do (this is still linked to the old website for now)!!! Then if you have any ideas you’d like to share, link up your exact post to MckLinky (if you have questions about how to do that, let me know in a comment or email-links to homepages will automatically be deleted).
When you add your name(blog name) to MckLinky will you put your tot’s age (in months) after it, like this: 1+1+1=1 (41 mos)? I think this will help new readers a lot as they look for ideas for their specific aged tot!
If you are NEW will you please leave a comment letting us all know so we can be sure to visit you?
There was a great suggestion for us all to add our tot’s bday month/year to the list. If you would like to do that, I would be glad to add it to those of you who comment here with this info. Just put your blog name and then the age like this (6/06). I will add it to the webpage!
