Jack and the Beanstalk Printables

Jack and the Beanstalk Free Printables

Sometimes we have a theme to go along with our RRSP letter of the week, sometimes not.  Ladybug really enjoys a special theme, and I didn’t have one preplanned for the letter J, so Jack and the Beanstalk popped into my mind!  I will share later all of what we did for her theme week, but I wanted to share the printables I created for her!

I couldn’t find exactly what I wanted, so I bought clipart from Little Red’s Clipart and got busy!

There is a Jack and the Beanstalk printable pack which features activities for tots-Kindergartners. There is a printable Jack and the Beanstalk story, which I created in both color and BW {to be colored by kids}.

Jack and the Beanstalk Printable Reader

There’s also a digital story for those of you who like the Easy Readers and using the books on your devices.

We only have one nice copy of Jack and the Beanstalk in actual paper book format, so I found some cute apps to make the story come alive also!  One {shown below} is free, and the McGraw Hill story I got free when it was marked down, but it is often a paid app. The middle one is normally paid, but I also got it free when marked down.  {see how we find temporarily reduced apps here} The Story Chimes free version has some ads, but nothing inappropriate that we saw.

Here are some of the Jack and the Beanstalk books and toys I wish we would have had {I planned this entire unit in one day and didn’t have time to scout the library}.

I also used a Kindle book {free borrow for Amazon prime members}, which my kids LOVED.  I read it to them while they were eating lunch one day and they thought it was a great version!Jack and the Beanstalk

We also enjoyed watching this version of Jack and the Beanstalk on Amazon Prime too!Jack Movie

Comparing different versions of the story was definitely a very fun part of our theme week.  Krash was VERY involved with this theme too, which made it fun! I will share more when I put our entire theme post together!  We used many other resources too, most I have pinned here on my J is for Pinterest board! Stay tuned for our upcoming post which will share all that my kids enjoyed throughout our Jack theme!

I wrote about my views on using themes with young kids, and there are certainly a LOT of early childhood themes to choose from! When you begin planning, Pinterest and Google can be a bit overwhelming!  I am creating this series to help you with your planning.  I have gathered all FREE theme based printable packs {mainly early childhood focused, tots-1st grade} that I am aware of and sorted them by letter so you can browse through and get ideas all in one place! I did NOT include holiday based packs, simply because there are so many and they are pretty easy to find when holidays roll around.

I have included free printable theme packs from bloggers around the web including; Homeschool Creations, 2 Teaching Mommies, Spell Outloud, 3 Dinosaurs, Confessions of a Homeschooler, Me & Marie Learning, Ooopsey Daisy, All Our Days, Creative Learning Fun, Royal Baloo, 123 Homeschool 4 Me, Lawteedah, Our Little Monkeys, Creative Preschool Resources, Our Country Road, Homeschool Share, Gift of Curiosity, This Reading Mama, and Over the Big Moon. {if any of you ladies notice an error please let me know!}

If the pack was created by another blogger, I listed their {blog name} in the brackets.  If there aren’t any brackets, I made it!

Tot School ~ Letter J

~Ladybug is currently 36.5 months old~

Animal-ABC-Button92222222

The items are all available here on the Animal ABCs webpage. {files are released for free when they are posted on the Totally Tots blog for the ABC feature, letter J is not free yet, but it will be once it is posted on Totally Tots!}.

Here are some Letter J and Jellyfish ideas for you…

She seems to be over the whole dry erase thing, so we are using markers on paper, which she loves.IMG_6151

IMG_6163

She also loves glitter, so we are pulling that in a lot {which I don’t love}.IMG_6168

We changed up the coloring and used paint instead!IMG_6122

Here she is working on Letter Jj Dot Fun, first she colored in all of the dots.  This set is included in the Animal ABC Bundle, or you can purchase the set as a stand alone set for $1.25 on Teacher’s Notebook.IMG_6154

Then she watched as I traced each letter with glue, then she glittered them!IMG_6155

IMG_6158

We slipped our Play Dough Mat into our Dry Erase Center, and made the letters together.  After making the letters, she poked them! IMG_6128

She worked with me to make the letter craft, which is basically an open ended project that you can do whatever you want with!  This week I let her marble paint the letter sheet before I cut it out, she LOVED this!IMG_6113

IMG_6118

She cut the jellyfish all on her own this week!IMG_6132

She also glued them all on her own too, she’s getting so big!IMG_6198

Special Note: Please read my post about Following the Child’s Lead if you have a tot and need info about this.  All tots are different and what Ladybug is doing may not be appropriate for your child, even if s/he is the same age!

We are taking our All About Reading Pre Level 1 lessons slowly.  I am not expecting mastery from Ladybug, just using this program as a way to expose her to the Big Five Skills.

This week we did lesson 10, continuing our work with rhyming words.  No photos of that part this week!

Here she was coloring the Jackrabbit sheet..IMG_6215

I tried out the free version of the app, Letter School and fell in LOVE, so I bought it for Ladybug!  Best full price purchase I have made in awhile, if not ever, for our iPad! IMG_6184

She uses her finger as shown above and also uses our stylus some, she loves both.  This app has become a FAST favorite, she chooses it a LOT and I love it!IMG_6222

We also love the freebie we got last week, Wee Sing ABC.  This is a $2.99 app and we are so thankful we snagged it for free.  Be sure to follow me on Facebook, I always share these deals when I find them!IMG_6091

Tot School Printables J is for Jellyfish

    Letter: Jj

    Object: Jellyfish

    Vocabulary Development Theme: Ocean Animals

You can find the printables for this unit here on the Tot School Printables webpage.

We continued on with our letter Jj week, partly because I wanted to extend our ocean activities and also because of laziness on my part-not wanting to plan and prepare the next unit! Ladybug did not mind at all!IMG_6200

She colored her vocabulary sheet at least 5 different times with her dry erase markers like this!!!IMG_6235

She LOVES her new Crayola Dry Erase Activity Board, and I love that I can slip the sheets in so easily now!IMG_6388

She LOVED the accordion book from the Ocean Animals Tot Book, so I made her another one!IMG_6204

She “played” with them a lot and really enjoyed coloring them with me!IMG_6215

    IMG_6406

I made her some Ocean Animals Cutting Strips, and she really struggled with these. I plan to add these in each week to give her more cutting practice!IMG_6224

I made ocean word cards for her to color also, she really liked that Baba colored with her {my dad}.IMG_6243

Fun Books & Toys for this unit here!

    Learning-Toys_thumb2_thumb_thumb_thu

This section cracks me up. I promise it was not planned at ALL, but every single toy I have a photo of is from Guidecraft! Yes, I review for them and we love their toys, but I promise I didn’t even realize that’s what she played with all week until I pulled the photos together! I wasn’t intentional with planning this week and many of the toys were just laying around in our {very} messy schoolroom.

So, Guidecraft, this one’s for you…thank for all for the amazing toys that my daughter obviously LOVES!

The balancing shape sorter is a favorite these days, both with Ladybug and Krash.IMG_6306

Another favorite with all 3 kids right now is our City Blocks set. These blocks are simply gorgeous and the kids are all drawn to them. I was building with Ladybug and then she began counting the pieces on her own! She can count to 11 now consistently!IMG_6415

The Sky Scraper Building set is not a favorite with the boys, but Ladybug LOVES it! Funny how they don’t all love the same thing and I thought the boys would really like this one. That’s my Dad ~ Baba, playing with her!

    IMG_6396

You can see her saying “green” as she puts the shape on!!IMG_6438

She loves the Sound Box, even if it is way to hard for her to find the matches. The sounds are very similar, I need to take the concept and make our own that will be easier for her!IMG_6328

She played a lot with our Fraction Board and is already so much better with it!IMG_6423

She had fun sticking dot stickers on her paper. I purposely placed them all around her to encourage different fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.IMG_6399She wandered over to Baba and had him join her a bit too!IMG_6404

Techy-Tot_thumb2_thumbThe iPad continues to get a daily workout!! Ladybug LOVES it! Here she is a Montessori based game that both she and Krash really enjoy ~ Montessori Crosswords.IMG_6217

She has many more favorites, I am working on a post to share educational apps we love!
