Learning Resources Mini Muffin Match Up Review and Giveaway

Learning Resources Mini Muffin Match Up Review and Giveaway

We are in love with the new Mini Muffin Match Up from Learning Resources!  I was sent this toy to review and have one to giveaway to one of you!  I got to choose our review items {we have 2 more coming soon} and I was drawn to this particular toy for a few reasons.  I love anything with fun fine motor work, unique “grabbers” and cute little colorful items to grab!

It comes with 60 tiny colorful muffins, one special squeezy tweezer, a plastic muffin tray, 2 foam dice, 12 small double sided cardboard disks that insert into the muffin tray, and an activity guide.

All three of my kids {ages 4, 7, 11} love this, but I got it with Ladybug in mind.  Knowing she needs fine motor work, it seemed to be a perfect fit and it is!

She was immediately excited when I first showed it to her and got busy sorting.  She loves sorting by color.

We have played with it several times since opening it! Yes, she is often wearing her mismatched jammies.  Homeschool is nice like that.

Krash {age 7} and I played a game using the dice.  We had a race to see who could empty one side of the tin first.  We divided all of the muffins and put half on his side and half on mine and then rolled and removed that number, eventually emptying the tin.

There is so much versatility with this toy, free play and structured games are both options.  Here I showed Ladybug how to roll the dice and get the correct color and number AND put them into the correct spot in the tray.  She also had to put the correct total in each spot.

Mini Muffin Match Up comes with a high recommendation from me and I think is totally worth the price for what you get.  Just the small muffins alone are awesome for so many things.  The addition of the tray, the grabber, the disks and dice make it even better! If you are looking for a new versatile learning toy for early childhood, this would be a great option.

You can purchase this on Amazon here, and also directly on the Learning Resources website.

iTrax ~ Learning Resources Giveaway

{Disclosure: this product was given to me free of charge to review, I was not paid for this post, affiliate links are in this post}

Learning-Resources

My favorite part about the game iTrax from Learning Resources would be the phrase on the front of the box…”make-you-think game"!”

iTrax Game

This is a FUN game, and I love it because the rules are simple and the pieces can be used in different creative ways outside of the game. I love alternate uses!  You can see Krash thinking in this shot below…

Learning Resources iTrax

The object is to look at the card {3 levels of play, this is the easiest “Ace”} and find the track that connects 2 squares.  You can see this one shows the completed track.

Learning Resources iTrax

The game is for 2-4 players and the first player to make the track correctly wins!  But then the others check to be sure the track was made precisely!

Remember those alternative uses I mentioned above?  Here’s proof!  They have spent just as much time creating with the pieces as we have actually playing the game itself!

I definitely recommend this game, it doesn’t take up a lot of game shelf space {a big plus for me}, has multi-use pieces, is simple once you read the rules, can be played quickly, and provokes deep thought!

You can purchase these on Amazon here, and also directly on the Learning Resources website.

Learning Resources Family Counters

Learning-Resources44

The new All About Me Family Counters from Learning Resources are adorable!

Learning Resources Family Counters

I was so excited to get these to review, and my excitement spread to my kids too, especially Ladybug and PacMan!

Learning Resources Family Counters

This set of 72 colorful counters features a variety of family members, including a kitty!  My kids wished there was a dog to complete our family too, but pretended one of the cats was a dog when they made us!

The bigger counters will hold the babies, look how cute…Learning Resources Family Counters

We have played with these numerous times, both to practice skills {patterning below-Pac was teaching Ladybug} and just for fun.  Ladybug played for about an hour straight with the counters one day, she loves them!

Learning Resources Family Counters

These are a perfect companion to reinforce and expose early math skills like colors, counting, patterning, and sorting.  I love that they are different colors and sizes, as the counting bears we have always used are all the same size.  Being able to add the size attribute is awesome!  If you are an early childhood teacher or have little ones at home, this would be a wonderful educational toy to add to your collection!

You can purchase these on Amazon here, and also directly on the Learning Resources website.

We have a fun review and giveaway for you today, for the awesome Handy Scoopers from Learning Resources!prod4963_4_lg

I was really excited to receive these new Handy Scoopers, honestly wondering if they would be sturdy enough to survive Ladybug and Krash!  Thankfully they are and my kids LOVE them! We have played games with them, used them in sensory bins, and even as instruments!

Here we used our Froggy Feeding Fun game pieces to scoop and play a game. You can see the game we played here!

The Handy Scoopers are an excellent fine motor tool and wonderful for sensory bins. I wish I would have had these a year ago, when we did even more fine motor work!  I highly recommend these!  You can purchase Handy Scoopers on Amazon here, and also directly on the Learning Resources website.

We will be reviewing the Family Counters next month and Learning Resources has a fun contest going on, read more here: http://www.learningresources.com/familycounters!

Learning Resources Geometric Shapes

Learning-Resources1

We have a fun giveaway for you today, for Real World Folding Geometric Shapes  from Learning Resources!

Learning Resources Geometric Shapes

There are 8 shapes included ~ cube, cylinder, hexagonal prism, rectangular prism,  triangular prism, square pyramid,  triangular pyramid and cone. Each shapes comes with foldable inserts to represent real world objects.  There are a total of 24 inserts, some shapes have more options than others.

Learning Resources Geometric Shapes

Ladybug’s thoughts… she really enjoyed these even though they weren’t really meant for her!  She thought they were really neat and has played with them a lot!Learning Resources Geometric Shapes

As for the boys, honestly, they weren’t too impressed since they weren’t as good for building, and more for learning.  They thought they were neat, but haven’t explored them much.

My thoughts…the teacher in me really likes these. Having a hands on version of geometric shapes that represent real world objects makes for fun math learning! The plastic part used to close the shape and keep the insert inside isn’t as sturdy as I would like, I had to add a little bit of clear tape to a few of them to keep them from falling apart as we explored them, but it’s not a really big deal.  I know I will love having these when we get to geometric shape lessons in math!

You can purchase these on Amazon here, and also directly on the Learning Resources website.prod4356_2_lg
