Learning Resources Counters Review and Giveaway

Learning Resources Counters Giveaway from www.1plus1plus1equals1.net

We love our counters from Learning Resources!  We were sent Garden Critters and Dinosaurs to review. Ladybug LOVES these, I mean loves.  She brings them places, plays with them all over the house {and outside}. They are a big favorite already!

I gave her the Garden Critters first, awhile back and she fell in LOVE {here’s the original post these photos are from}.  She loves bugs so these have been played with a lot!  Here you can see her playing with them in her Wheat Berries.

She is a color sorter, always!

Adding other toys into play with counters is always a good thing.  I gave her the dinosaurs a couple of months later and they were just as big of a hit.  I can’t begin to tell you how much she asks to play with these! She used our color blocks to sort the dinos by color.

Here she was putting the pterodactyls  to sleep, the babies are lined up and she’s holding the mom and dad.

Below she was making a leveled house for the dinosaurs and I got a whole story about this creation.

The Learning Resources Counters come with a definite recommendation from me and from all 3 of my kids {I asked them}. Ladybug loves them the most but Krash plays with them a lot too.  These are well made, durable and adorable. Counters are good for free open-ended play and also can be used extensively for early math. Counting, patterning, sorting and more becomes much more fun with special counters! I am so thankful to have these 2 sets!

You can purchase many of the Counters here from Amazon here, and also directly on the Learning Resources website. Below I will link to the different ones they carry…

The Geometric Shape Building Set comes with a definite recommendation from me and from all 3 of my kids {I asked them}. They all love building toys and will play and build for hours. There are enough pieces to build all sorts of items as an open ended free play toy.  You can also use this set for math instruction, showing 2D and 3D shapes, like those shown below and more!

Learning Resources Geometric Shape Building Set

Learning Resources has a similar set called, Dive into Shapes! A "Sea" and Build Geometry Set which we also have.  It comes with less pieces but has instruction cards.  We love both sets. If you are looking at these sets, be sure to look at both to see which would be a better fit for your family or class. Dive into Shapes is on Learning Resources here and on Amazon here.

You can purchase the Geometric Shape Building Set on Amazon here, and also directly on the Learning Resources website.

Learning Resources Mini Muffin Match Up Review and Giveaway

Learning Resources Mini Muffin Match Up Review and Giveaway

We are in love with the new Mini Muffin Match Up from Learning Resources!  I was sent this toy to review and have one to giveaway to one of you!  I got to choose our review items {we have 2 more coming soon} and I was drawn to this particular toy for a few reasons.  I love anything with fun fine motor work, unique “grabbers” and cute little colorful items to grab!

It comes with 60 tiny colorful muffins, one special squeezy tweezer, a plastic muffin tray, 2 foam dice, 12 small double sided cardboard disks that insert into the muffin tray, and an activity guide.

Learning Resources -6185

All three of my kids {ages 4, 7, 11} love this, but I got it with Ladybug in mind.  Knowing she needs fine motor work, it seemed to be a perfect fit and it is!

Learning Resources -6197

She was immediately excited when I first showed it to her and got busy sorting.  She loves sorting by color.

Learning Resources -6218

We have played with it several times since opening it! Yes, she is often wearing her mismatched jammies.  Homeschool is nice like that.

Learning Resources -5565

Learning Resources -5567

Krash {age 7} and I played a game using the dice.  We had a race to see who could empty one side of the tin first.  We divided all of the muffins and put half on his side and half on mine and then rolled and removed that number, eventually emptying the tin.

Learning Resources -5434

There is so much versatility with this toy, free play and structured games are both options.  Here I showed Ladybug how to roll the dice and get the correct color and number AND put them into the correct spot in the tray.  She also had to put the correct total in each spot.

Mini Muffin Match Up comes with a high recommendation from me and I think is totally worth the price for what you get.  Just the small muffins alone are awesome for so many things.  The addition of the tray, the grabber, the disks and dice make it even better! If you are looking for a new versatile learning toy for early childhood, this would be a great option.

You can purchase this on Amazon here, and also directly on the Learning Resources website.

iTrax ~ Learning Resources Giveaway

{Disclosure: this product was given to me free of charge to review, I was not paid for this post, affiliate links are in this post}

Learning-Resources

My favorite part about the game iTrax from Learning Resources would be the phrase on the front of the box…”make-you-think game"!”

iTrax Game

This is a FUN game, and I love it because the rules are simple and the pieces can be used in different creative ways outside of the game. I love alternate uses!  You can see Krash thinking in this shot below…

Learning Resources iTrax

The object is to look at the card {3 levels of play, this is the easiest “Ace”} and find the track that connects 2 squares.  You can see this one shows the completed track.

Learning Resources iTrax

The game is for 2-4 players and the first player to make the track correctly wins!  But then the others check to be sure the track was made precisely!

Learning Resources iTrax

Remember those alternative uses I mentioned above?  Here’s proof!  They have spent just as much time creating with the pieces as we have actually playing the game itself!

“Look Mommy!  I made an A!”

I definitely recommend this game, it doesn’t take up a lot of game shelf space {a big plus for me}, has multi-use pieces, is simple once you read the rules, can be played quickly, and provokes deep thought!

You can purchase these on Amazon here, and also directly on the Learning Resources website.

Learning Resources Family Counters

Learning-Resources44

The new All About Me Family Counters from Learning Resources are adorable!

Learning Resources Family Counters

I was so excited to get these to review, and my excitement spread to my kids too, especially Ladybug and PacMan!

Learning Resources Family Counters

This set of 72 colorful counters features a variety of family members, including a kitty!  My kids wished there was a dog to complete our family too, but pretended one of the cats was a dog when they made us!

The bigger counters will hold the babies, look how cute…Learning Resources Family Counters

We have played with these numerous times, both to practice skills {patterning below-Pac was teaching Ladybug} and just for fun.  Ladybug played for about an hour straight with the counters one day, she loves them!

Learning Resources Family Counters

These are a perfect companion to reinforce and expose early math skills like colors, counting, patterning, and sorting.  I love that they are different colors and sizes, as the counting bears we have always used are all the same size.  Being able to add the size attribute is awesome!  If you are an early childhood teacher or have little ones at home, this would be a wonderful educational toy to add to your collection!

You can purchase these on Amazon here, and also directly on the Learning Resources website.
