We have been using Home Art Studio for several months now.  We have both the 3rd grade DVD and the 1st grade DVD.  You can see all of our projects here, as I am blogging through each one! If I had to pick a favorite project, it would definitely be the rose windows, I loved them and so did the kids!

A few FAQ I have gotten over the past few months…

Would you recommend buying the supplies through Home Art Studio or shopping on your own?  What did you do?

I was given a supply box for review, so I didn’t purchase the supplies myself.  The box was awesome, and had everything we have needed so far.  Only one item wasn’t in there, the colored tissue paper for the rose windows, I had to use my own, but so far that’s been it.  I am not artsy at ALL so shopping for some of the items would have been a tad overwhelming for me.  I imagine if you take the list provided and use some coupons for a craft/art store, you could get your own, but I honestly have no clue what the cost difference would be.

What grade level do you have and how is it working for your kids?

We have used five lessons from grade 3 and one lesson from grade 1.  The grade 1 lessons look awesome, and for the most part even Ladybug can participate in many of them!  Pac {5th grade} loves art so he will too.  For the five 3rd grade lessons we have done, only one has been a tad overwhelming for Krash {1st grade}.  Overall we are VERY pleased with the Home Art Studio program!

Giveaway is open for USA and Canada, and ends on Dec. 11, 2012. Winner will be announced here, on Facebook and via email and has 48 hours to reply!

You Can Do It To!

You Can Do It Too - 25 Homeschool Families Share Their Stories

I am honored to share this eBook with you, and hope it is a huge encouragement to those of you who sit right where I sat years ago.  I was overwhelmed with the idea of homeschooling, confused, and just wanted to find real people, like me, who were doing it.  I had a couple of in real life friends, and I longed for more, so I turned to the internet.  I wish a book like this would have been available to me back then I would have purchased it in a heartbeat and soaked in every word.

I am honored to be a part of this project and hope my words and the words of 25 other homeschoolers {there is one bonus interview}.  Homeschoolers like Stephanie from Keeper of the Home, Toni from The Happy Housewife, Mandi from Life Your Way, and Tabitha from Meet Penny. The eBook is over 250 pages of encouragement and honesty from real life homeschoolers.

A few of the questions I answered in my section {many others answered these same questions}…

  • How and why did you decide to start home schooling?
  • Have you thought about quitting before?
  • How has the home school schedule affected/benefited your family life?
  • Are you worried about socialization?
  • What are your concerns with home schooling now? Are they different than when you started?

Learning Resources Geometric Shapes

Ladybug’s thoughts… she really enjoyed these even though they weren’t really meant for her!  She thought they were really neat and has played with them a lot!Learning Resources Geometric Shapes

As for the boys, honestly, they weren’t too impressed since they weren’t as good for building, and more for learning.  They thought they were neat, but haven’t explored them much.

My thoughts…the teacher in me really likes these. Having a hands on version of geometric shapes that represent real world objects makes for fun math learning! The plastic part used to close the shape and keep the insert inside isn’t as sturdy as I would like, I had to add a little bit of clear tape to a few of them to keep them from falling apart as we explored them, but it’s not a really big deal.  I know I will love having these when we get to geometric shape lessons in math!

You can purchase these on Amazon here, and also directly on the Learning Resources website.prod4356_2_lg
