Integrity Time Bible Review and Giveaway

Integrity Time Bible Review

{disclaimer ~ we were given Integrity Time Bible free of charge to review and have decided personally to use it as an ongoing part of our homeschool}

We have been using and LOVING Integrity Time Bible.  We reviewed Integrity Time here, and we enjoyed it also.  However, as a Christian family, the Bible version is an absolute perfect fit for us!  We have used lessons A, B and C so far.  I have personally read through a majority of the lessons already and begun preparing for the remainder.  As I said above, I love this so much we have decided to use it all the way through!  You will continue to see it on my blog in my Learning with Ladybug feature {since she is my target student for this}.

I keep all of the lesson PDFs on my iPad in iBooks.  This is a screenshot of my “Integrity Time” folder…

Integrity Time Bible

For each unit, I have printed out the verse, any object lesson printables, as well as the visual aid {usually a character}.  Below you can see letters A, B, and C.

Ladybug absolutely loves the Bible characters.  Letter A was Jesus {having a Christ like Attitude}, Letter B was David {David’s behavior was the focus}, and Letter C didn’t have a character but a blocks graphic {to represent Christian Cooperation}. The character printables are BW so I lightly colored them in myself before laminating them.  I also hooked ours to a popsicle stick.

Integrity Time -5207 Integrity Time -5551

Each letter has a key verse that emphasizes the word.  Below you can see Ladybug proudly displaying her Letter A verse after coloring it.

Integrity Time -5223

Along with the word, verse, and character/image, there is also an object lesson to help reinforce the idea and verse. For Letter A we had verses about Jesus’ loving attitude that we used.

Integrity Time -5208 Integrity Time -5218

Integrity Time -5235

For Letter B we had a target, and we used this to talk about how even when we love God {as David did} we still often miss the target with our behavior.

Integrity Time -5555

Letter C stemmed off of the Tower of Babel and talked about cooperation along with building a tower together.

Integrity Time Bible -6309

We are adding this in as a part of Ladybug’s Character Education.  She struggles a bit in this area and I need something focused.  I have chosen to do one lesson per week, and have Krash join us.  He needs this too and enjoys the lessons.

Before each lesson, I read through the lesson on my iPad and make sure I understand the Bible lesson. You can see a full sample of the Letter A on the Integrity Time Bible site here.

Integrity Time Bible Seample Lesson

After I have prepared any printables and lesson items, I call the kids over and they sit as I read the lesson to them.  I do not read it word for word, as it is written to a class.  I adapt the lesson to be for home {easily done}.

There are way more printables included than we use, here are a few, you can click to enlarge them.

Keep in mind this program is written for a group setting, and would be wonderful for a Homeschool Co-Op, Sunday School, or Children’s Church class! There are parent sheets, handouts and more!  It is also very easy to adapt for home use.

If you are looking for a character education program, I highly recommend taking a look at Integrity Time Bible.

A Peek into our Homeschool ~ End of 2013

Homeschool-Life_thumb1_thumb

I am not giving up on sharing Weekly Wrap-up post, however, mine are more like couple-of-monthly wrap ups. Below will give you a peek at what I captured from about late October – December 2013.

{disclaimer: affiliate links are used below}

We wrapped up our Australia Continent Box and each child plowed through their Continent Box Challenge.  We took an afternoon all together one day to do lots of Australia work and finish up the challenges.  Ladybug colored about every Australian animal we had, and then some!  See all of our Australia ideas here on our Pinterest board!

One of the favorites during a continent study is opening any Little Passports packages we have from that continent.  I save them all to open when we study the continent.  We had one package saved for Australia!

We are still using our Picture Smart Bible, although we have gone way too slowly in my opinion.  The boys both LOVE this and so do I, I just always seem to forget about it since it is an extra for us. I only use this with the boys, not Ladybug.

Krash--2nd-Grade_thumb1_thumb

Krash finished up all of the lowercase letters and most of the uppercase from Logic of English’s Cursive Handwriting program. We both love the program and would definitely recommend it!

We are continuing to use All About Spelling 2 and three All About Reading 2 in place of Calvert’s spelling and phonics components.

2nd Grade -0258

When reading either from the All About Reading book or the fluency sheets, he is usually moving somehow!  Here he was doing mushroom work {pommel horse trainer} while reading.  He would read a page and do some circles, then read more and circle more.

We continue to love Singapore’s Math in Focus that Calvert offers now. He recently learned multiplication and we enjoyed many hands on activities to help him.  Below he was using our cookies to work…

2nd Grade -0251

Many of our Spielgaben pieces came into action during this unit. They were VERY helpful to him.

2nd Grade -0573

Math in Focus has lots of word problems, which I normally hate but LOVE now.  He is forced to THINK, deeply. He can solve much higher level problems than P could at this age.

We have other supplemental math items too, he enjoyed the Multiplication Wrap Up as he was learning to multiply.

Playing with the Base Ten Blocks has become a favorite too.

2nd Grade -0500

We are using Calvert’s science and finished up learning about seeds and plants. This experiment was about how roots always grow down.

He has also been learning about landforms and the earth.  Below he was making a model of how an island forms in water.

Krash is a builder, and loves to follow directions and complete big projects.  Ladybug wanted me to make her this huge dinosaur in the manual for Zoobs, I kindly said, “not right now.”  K chimed in and offered to make it for her!

PacMan-6th-Grade_thumb1_thumb

I don’t get many photos of PacMan, since 6th grade isn’t always a photo-worthy as the younger grades!

He made it through his poetry book {not very enthusiastically}, One Hundred Years of Poetry for Children.  He is now enjoying a fiction novel again, Esperanza Rising.  He GREATLY prefers novels.

We have been referring to our Big Book of History Timeline during our history lessons recently.  It is a neat resource to have and get out to compare.

6th grade science overwhelms me.  I honestly just don’t enjoy it, but he does. I love history and could read it all day long with him, he prefers the science. Below he was completing one of his experiments involving baking soda, vinegar and a flame. I found this online that explains what we did.

Birth of Jesus Review & Giveaway

Grapevine Bible Studies The Birth of Jesus

{disclaimer ~ affiliate links used in this post, I also received a free copy of the Birth of Jesus student and teacher eBook}

We have used and loved Grapevine Bible Studies for years!  This year we decided to use the Birth of Jesus mini study for part of our Christmas learning.  We already had the Beginner Level Birth of Jesus Study eBooks and Dianna from Grapevine kindly sent me the Traceable eBook {student and teacher} to review with Ladybug!

I don’t print my manual, I load it into iBooks and use my iPad, as shown below.  I also use my phone with the Bible app ready to go with our verses for the lesson. This helps me stay more streamlined in my teaching and works better for me.

The Birth of Jesus Grapevine Bible Study for Kids

I made each of my kids a mini book with their drawing pages inside.  I printed the beginner pages for my boys {ages 7 and 11} and printed the tracer pages for Ladybug {age 4}

Christmas Homeschool -1626

Each of my kids has a different color rectangle on the cover to easily grab the right one.  I made a few extra colors and left the names off in case you’d like to use them too.

 Download the covers here!

The Birth of Jesus Bible Study Covers

This study is 7 lessons, taking your kids through the events and people surrounding the Birth of Jesus; Mary, Joseph, The Birth, Shepherds, The Temple, The Wise Men, & Herod.

I set my kids up like this each day, using our lap trays from Michaels and our color coded school supply buckets.

Christmas Homeschool -1736

I stand at the dry erase board and teach them from there.  Stick figures make me happy.  Even I can draw them!

Christmas -1770

I love how simple this study is, and that it is only 7 lessons.  Yes it is simple, but it is powerful.  The discussions that have stemmed from our lessons so far have been phenomenal!  I am so very thankful we decided to use it this year. It is one of the only things we can successfully learn together with the age range I have {ages 4, 7, 11}.

Christmas Homeschool -1685

My favorite drawing from the study so far is definitely from my oldest son, who manages to make his drawings quite unique! I shared this on Instagram here!

Birth Of Jesus

This particular Instagram post got some questions about how we explain the concept of “virgin” to our young kids.  I answered over in the comments of the Instagram post if you’d like to see!

Birth of Jesus...Mary

It is not too late to use this study this December, since it is only 7 lessons you have plenty of time!  You can purchase it today and get started almost immediately as there is very little prep work!

Her Noah’s Ark shelf…

Noah's Ark -8729

We have a wooden ark and the original Little People Ark.  We have had both of these for many years and she loves them as much as the boys did!  She was thrilled when she walked in and saw them in the schoolroom!

Noah's Ark -8739

We used a few printables from 123 Homeschool4Me’s Noah’s Ark printables.  She loved the sorting upper and lowercase letters on the animals!

Silly girl was coloring the color by number ark from the same pack, and didn’t want me taking her picture!

I had some old Noah’s Ark sticker sets and she loved making her own sticker picture!

Noah's Ark -9081

I made some Noah’s Ark Tiny Dot printables {link is further down in this post}, can’t really call them Q-tip printables anymore since she is so over Q-tips now.  We tried something new, gluing perler beads!  She did the uppercase N and asked me to finish the lowercase!

We also colored in the tiny dots together too!  She liked making rainbow dots.
