Tot School ~ Happy 3rd Birthday!

~Ladybug is currently 36 months old~

We had Letter I for iguana out and she did a little bit of it, BUT with the very off week we had, she didn’t get to do much, so we will do I again next week.  One thing she loved was cutting up play doh food,IMG_4916

for her iguana…IMG_4921

Ladybug turned three this week, which is part of the reason we had an off week.  Both sets of grandparents drove up for her birthday and we also got our new kitten the day before her birthday!  Quite a fun few days for all of us!

She chose a Captain Barnacles cake {she loves Octonauts}, the grandmas made it together for her!  She was VERY impressed!!!

IMG_5372  IMG_5392

She was blessed with many gifts she loves, including some My Little Pony things, a purple ladybug Pillow Pet, and more.  Her favorite seems to be her new Princess light up Scooter!IMG_5362

She loves Mr Crunch.  I love that it works her little fine motor muscles so well!IMG_4963

She made a vacuum cleaner out of Magneatos, I sure wish it actually worked!IMG_4948

We added some cut up straws to our play doh play, she loved this!IMG_4946

I showed her how you could squeeze the dough out of the straw, more good small muscle work!IMG_4928

She is in LOVE with the new Easy Readers for our iPad, here she was reading Octonauts to Daddy.

Tot School ~ Letter H

~Ladybug is currently 35.5 months old~

Here is her desk set up for letter H…IMG_4624

She always loves the littler animals on her desk each week.IMG_4582

The items in the pocket chart are all available here on the Animal ABCs webpage.  I added hippos on her desk, and her Hide and Seek Hippo book, which she loved! {files are released for free when they are posted on the Totally Tots blog for the ABC feature, letter G is not free yet, but it will be once it is posted on Totally Tots!}.

Here are some Letter H and Hippo ideas for you…

She did very little tracing this week in her dry erase notebook. Totally fine by me, it’s her choice each week.  She did enjoy pulling out her old sheets and wanted to color the dolphin!IMG_4579

She has a big 3” binder under her desk that has all of the old units, so she can look through them and redo any she chooses!

Coloring hippos…IMG_4278

Here she is working on Letter H Dot Fun, we used dot stickers this time!  This set is included in the Animal ABC Bundle, or you can purchase the set as a stand alone set for $1.25 on Teacher’s Notebook.IMG_4283

She worked with me to make the letter craft, which is basically an open ended project that you can do whatever you want with!  Last week she painted the letter H with “snow paint” I lost all of my photos from that day sadly.  This week she glued on her hippos all by herself.  IMG_4334

She is REALLY loving white glue!IMG_4338

We did a few simple hippo crafts from my Hippo Theme Pinterest board. First, a paper bag puppet hippo, she loved this one!IMG_4613

We colored a heart hippo together…IMG_4614

Special Note: Please read my post about Following the Child’s Lead if you have a tot and need info about this.  All tots are different and what Ladybug is doing may not be appropriate for your child, even if s/he is the same age!

We are taking our All About Reading Pre Level 1 lessons slowly.  I am not expecting mastery from Ladybug, just using this program as a way to expose her to the Big Five Skills.

This week we did lesson 8, continuing our work with rhyming words.  No photos of that part this week!  We played a LOT with Ziggy {the puppet}, she was so into the lesson thanks to him!

She loved the letter page this week!  She colored the H brown first {her choice},IMG_4268

then I let her use blue glitter to color the water!IMG_4273

She barely played with the toys on her shelves this week!  Amazing how her interests change from week to week!  Here she is sorting shapes…

Spiky ball transfer…IMG_4515

We had some Easter activities out, including our Easter {junk} Sensory Bin.  She played in it a LOT!  She loved making an egg sticker collage…IMG_4246

She didn’t play the actual game, but had a great time “playing” her own version of the Easter gameIMG_4251

Matching colored eggsIMG_4254

Her MOST favorite…definitely the Resurrection Eggs!  We spent time as a family on Good Friday evening going through them all and having a little “Jesus Easter Egg Hunt” as the kids call it.  IMG_4588

Techy Tot

The girl loves the iPad!  Here she was playing Park Math, Feed the HippoIMG_4611

Loving Toca Store with her brother…IMG_4342

Moms-Favorite_thumb2_thumbOur sweet kitty, Izabella is still hanging in there.  I wrote more about what’s going on here on my Facebook page.  Ladybug loves this little kitty, and even if she isn’t with us much longer, I will cherish the time with her.  Seeing Ladybug be so gentle with her is heartwarming.  She even covers her with her special blankee.IMG_4424

Tot School Letter Hh

~Ladybug is currently 35.5 months old~

We started Letter H this week, but did not come close to getting even half of our activities done, so I will continue with Hippo week until we finish!  This is a good thing because I lost almost all of our hippo photos, including our shaving cream spa and painting!!! Sad smile  When I went to find them, they weren’t there, I must have formatted the card without saving, not sure at ALL how I did that.  I lost many of our other school photos too.

Here is one hippo shot I found, of the hippos swimming in the water beads.IMG_3369

I had lots of toys set up, her favorite was one of the most simple trays I created-a little bucket filled with random dice and an empty container.IMG_3321

IMG_3333 IMG_3334

Lining them up and counting…IMG_3336

She loves this ABC puzzle just as much as Krash did.  She did it several times this week!IMG_3344

Techy Tot

We have added MANY new books to our iPad book collection, the new recent FAVORITE is our Little Critter Set.  My kids have always loved Little Critter books and now to have 10 of the books in this set!  I am really getting into the digital books thing, although it has taken me awhile to jump on board.  I love that they can have the book read to them, or I can read it.  IMG_3545

Other recent favorites have been the Miko books from Apps By Auryn.  The kids just love this little mouse!  See more iPad Apps we love here!

Life School

We went camping together on Thurs and Friday nights!  It was chilly but wonderful.  Ladybug LOVED it, she is such an outdoorsy kid.

She loved the unlimited time with her Daddy!

IMG_3938  IMG_3984

The leaves were a BIG hit!IMG_4067

Our new kitty came wit us, Ladybug bonded with her and it was just so sweet to watch,

Tot School – Rainbows

~Ladybug is currently 35 months old~

Here is her desk set up for Rainbow Week

Her book basket has mostly COLOR books, a few rainbow books too.  I picked colorful toys for her trays this week, she really liked all of the color!IMG_2743

On Monday morning she sat right down and got busy, she loved the set up!  I put the many printables I had for her in her notebook.  She flips through and chooses what she wants.IMG_2753

She chose Dot Fun first and asked to use stickers!IMG_2761

She loved the little rainbow I made for her with pipe cleaners and foam, she spent lots of time exploring it and we took it apart together and reassembled it together too!IMG_2766

Later in the week I got the idea to use the above rainbow along with our Somewhere Over the Rainbow props!  We stuck the other props in the styrofoam too and Ladybug chose the correct prop as we sang the song and got to certain parts!IMG_3192

IMG_3197  IMG_3205

I Love Colors was her favorite book from the collection, she read it alone many times and of course we read it together tons too!IMG_2768

Once I saw how much she loved this book, I made a doggie for her to color like the dog in the book.  BIG hit, she loved this!  I was absolutely amazed with the end result, I didn’t help her one bit, she chose where to put the colors all on her own and he looks so similar to the dog in the book!  This printable has been added to the Rainbow Tot Pack.

IMG_3117  IMG_3129

Lots of painting for Rainbow Week!  here she was painting free style on the blank rainbow printable from the Rainbow Tot Pack.  She is using Porcupine ring painters.IMG_2781

She wanted to make rainbow lines on this one so I helped her just by showing her the order and where to paint, but she managed the rest on her own!IMG_2787

I absolutely love the end result!IMG_2797

We marble painted rainbows, which she loved!  It is such a wonderful way to build so many skills while also coming out with a beautiful piece of art in the end!IMG_3094

Hers is on the top, IMG_3115

after they dried I cut out the rainbow shape.IMG_3247

We made cotton cloud rainbows too.  I precut all of the strips and she chose the order and did the gluing completely on her own!  I helped her put the cotton on, she didn’t like the glue on her fingers after the first few she tried!IMG_2811

Rainbow play doh wasn’t nearly as fun as I thought it would be.  Well, it was for me, but she didn’t like it as much as I did.  IMG_3170

We made the rainbow together and the letters, but mostly she wanted to make snowmen!IMG_3173

We made a simple rainbow paper chain and this was a huge success!

IMG_3179 IMG_3184

The cutting activit from the Rainbow Tot Pack was hard for her, but we did it!IMG_3189

Matching rainbows was a perfect challenge, but she didn’t like it very much.IMG_3207

Most of our rainbow printables came from our Rainbow Tot PackRainbow Tot Pack Button

I also pinned the other ideas I used on my Rainbow Theme Pinterest board…image

We played with our parachute a lot, it was hard when the boys weren’t around to help hold it though!  We put our ball pit balls inside and had loads of fun together!IMG_2819

I made her a simple game, with a colored die, matching pom poms, a paint tray, and mini tongs {she chose these to use fro our tweezer/tong collection}.  She rolled the die and then put the correct pom pom in until she filled the tray!IMG_3072

Sorting mini colored cubes {from Target awhile back}, into stacking cups…IMG_2736

These shapes frustrated her for some reason, she enjoyed popping them out more than putting them in!IMG_2738

She loves the magnetic ABC fishing setIMG_3088

Water Beads again!  She LOVED watching the grow and playing with them throughout the week!

IMG_2979  IMG_2981

Life School

Life school was outside school for us!  We took advantage of every warm moment enjoyed our little inner city backyard to the fullest!  Ladybug loves throwing her big purple ball and is a riot to watch!

IMG_2940  IMG_3005

We have been watching our little purple flowers grow over the past couple of weeks and she loves admiring them each day and announces how many more there are and how beautiful they are!IMG_3053

Oh how I adore this beautiful profile!  She is just blissful when outdoors, she soaks up every moment and I love it!IMG_2873

Tot School

~Ladybug is currently 35 months old~

Because of my blog migration last weekend and also some MAJOR home projects going on {in the simplify category} I didn’t get my normal Sunday school prep afternoon.  So, I took it easy and left her Animal ABCs G Gorilla stuff out and we just relaxed on the planned Tot School.  School was spontaneous and totally unplanned on my part, guess what-she still has a blast and learned a lot!  I plan extensively more for me-so I don’t get slack and lazy!  But every now and then, a laid back un-planned week is great!

Life School

Zhu Zhu pets are educational, right? Well, either way, she had a blast exploring her interest in these silly little guys MANY times this past week!IMG_2466

She also got ahold of Krash’s Star Wars notebook {he chose a Star Wars theme for school this week} and asked to do it!  She did the activities in her own special way and loved it!  She worked on every printable and asked for more!

IMG_2516 IMG_2523

She also spent time in her Tot Time NotebookIMG_2529

We had a play date with friends, she isn’t the friendliest child so this is always good for her!IMG_2667

We spent TONS of time outside together!  She is learning to ride the tricycle and is a master at the Plasma Car!

IMG_2538 IMG_2568

Moms-Favorite_thumb2_thumbI was testing her with her favorite Seahorse toy, trying to get her to smile at me.  Finally she did, as she was grabbing for it!IMG_2500

This was the best I could get without her grabbing Winking smile.IMG_2504
